The Westbrook, Maine-based, pet diagnostic and technology company employs nearly 6,000 people globally, around 2,100 in Maine. The expansion added over 100,000 square feet to the headquarters, and supported an addition of up to 300 employees.
As part of the expansion, IDEXX decided to build “hoteling” work stations and to deploy a raised floor throughout the office space. To accommodate the free-flowing environment IDEXX was looking for, Connectivity Point supplied, installed, terminated and tested Category 6 communications cabling to multiple wireless access points, as well as “consolidation points” under the raised floor.
In addition to the Category 6 cabling, Connectivity Point was responsible for the Fiber Optic Backbone Cabling consisting of 24 strand single mode and 12 strand 50um OM3 armored fiber optic cable between Telecom Rooms. To accommodate the existing telephone system, 100 pair and 25 pair Category 3 cabling was installed for the Voice Backbone.
The new building qualified for the second-highest certification under the LEED standard system and was designed to be “one of the finest work environments in the state” said Idexx President and CEO Jonathan Ayers.
Connectivity Point is proud to help build the infrastructure of one of Maine’s innovative and largest publicly traded companies, and a growing Maine employer.
