JOB DESCRIPTION: Estimating Manager
REPORTS TO: Director of Estimating, Sales & Marketing
STATUS: Full Time

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Manage daily activities of estimating department. Implement technical estimating standards and procedures and oversee the work of project estimators. Solicit supplier bids and proposals for materials and equipment and evaluate proposals to ensure they meet project specifications and budget requirements. Responsible for the training, staffing and performance reviews of estimating department. Manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adheres to approved budgets. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide functional support and responsibility for multiple projects and provide managerial responsibility for the overall department operations
• Coordinate multiple estimates within multiple disciplines simultaneously, as well as review responsibility for multiple estimates or large estimates
• Establish and maintain an estimating department evaluation procedure
• Establish and maintain department resource library
• Recruitment and development of all estimating personnel
• Assisting sales with project bid evaluations
• Establish and coordinate bidding schedule
• Review projects to develop win strategy
• Review pricing and scheduling
• Establish and maintain relationships with owners, consultants, subs and suppliers
• Review project cost reports
• Develop and maintain estimating systems and procedures
• Arrange and manage bid turnover to operations
• Review final cost reports with project team and develop for historical information
• Conducting post-bid review
• Assist and/or lead in proposal preparation, presentation and securing new work
• Assist and/or lead design-build projects
• Assist and prepare fee and risk analysis
• Conduct reviews and provide guidance for estimates and estimators
• Lead by example to set the tone and pace of the department
• Attend technical training and/or assign training to estimators to support company products and services

Education and/or Experience:
• Engineering or Construction related degree preferred but will consider a Technical College certification or trade background with subsequent experience. RCDD, CTS, CTS-D preferred
• Advanced knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques
• Thorough understanding of construction, contracts, plans, specifications and terminology
• Minimum of 10-years of experience in estimating, proposal writing, project execution, preferably in the structured cabling, audiovisual, security or commercial business phone system industry
• General understanding of building codes, electrical codes and communication/structured cabling standards
Software Experience:
• Solid working knowledge of SharePoint Database software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint) Sage 100 Contractor, D-Tools
• Good oral and written communications
